Language use is thought to vary across different age groups. Therefore, there are as many secondary English dialects as there are primary languages that create them. The dialects of these groups are largely influenced by their primary language. Many ethnocultural group in the U.S. speak English as a second language. A secondary English dialect is a variation of any one form of native English, spoken by a bilingual or multilingual individual, and is largely influenced by the individual's primary language, which is something other than English. Dialects of English that are learned and used in a speaker's second language are described as secondary. In many other countries, english is spoken as a second language. There is evidence that gender differences in communication emerge at an early age. The gender differences in communication are noted in the choice of words, syntactic structures, and certain pragmatic features. However, we cannot entirely rule out some influence of the social gender role on pitch variation. Some authors have suggested the term 'genderlect' to describe the characteristic patterns of speech thought to be influenced by the gender of the speaker. Much has been written about the influence of a speaker's gender on language variety. Some closely knit adolescent groups have such characteristic dialects that we might describe them as teenlects. The factor is closely related to age, but peer pressure seems to play a separate role in shaping kinds of teen dialects. Peer-group membership is another factor that affects the language variety of speakers, most noticeably that of teenage speakers. Lack of mobility and social isolation are the major cause of these different speaking styles. The age and the gender of the speaker are among the important subgroup membership variables that create language variation. One such register is motherese, or the speech directed to young children by mothers. Variations in language production that depend on speaking situations are called registers. The speaking situation is general term that includes the listener, the topic under discussion, the relation between the speaker and the listener, and other factors. Though not strictly dialects, such variations contribute to the diversity of language production just as dialects do. No speaker, regardless of the dialect used, speaks in the same manner in all speaking situations. Forms of language vary depending on the speaking situation. In certain societies, a person belonging to the lower socioeconomic level often does not and even must not speak the dialect of those belonging to the upper socioeconomic class. Societies that have marked socioeconomic classes show significant dialectal variations across those classes. Socioeconomic factors include social class, education, occupation, and income level of families and groups of people. Though unjustified, an individual's dialect might be used to make judgments about his or her social and cultural background. Nonetheless, some dialectal differences are found between the people of lower and higher socioeconomic level in the United States. Dialects based on socioeconomic levels are less pronounced in the United States than in the United Kingdom and other countries.
