Section Test - 3~5
One day, Jennifer who had a young daughter was working in her cornfield. She had planted the corn in the spring time. All summer, she worked to keep the weeds from growing faster than her corn. In the late summer, she chased away the birds that wanted to eat the ripening corn. Now it was autumn, and time to harvest the corn. She had taken care of her cornfield well. There had been plenty of rain and sunlight. So she and her daughter had a good corn crop. Jennifer was very thankful for the weather. She and her daughter would have plenty to eat during the winter. She walked up and down the rows of corn stalks, picking ears of corn. When she had picked all the corn, she started to leave for home. Then Jennifer heard a little voice. "Please do not leave me!" "Do not go without me!" it cried. 'Could it be my daughter?' she thought her daughter followed her. Jennifer put her corn down and looked all around the garden to find her. She walked through the corn stalks again and looked for her child. But she found no one. Picking up her load of corn, Jennifer was about to start back. Then the voice called her again. Jennifer was a good and caring person, so she searched again. After a long search, she found a nubbin. A nubbin is a small corn that does not grow properly. Jennifer had not picked it because she thought it was too small to use. Now she touched the nubbin and knew it was the nubbin that had called her. She was not to waste even the nubbin of corn, for it too was a gift from God. Jennifer picked it, put it with other corn, and set off for home.
